A creative response to a fictitious dialogue between French philosopher Jacque Derrida and theatre director Jerzy Grotowski.

Dr Göze Saner gave a paper at IFTR Barcelona involving a fictitious dialogue between the French philosopher Jacque Derrida and theatre director and theorist Jerzy Marian Grotowski. The script was entirely taken from two separate works The Animal and Me (Derrida) and Performing Animal (Growtoski) and an imaginary dialogue was created by weaving the two text together. I was asked to creatively respond to the paper and document it in preparation for its inclusion in an academic publication.

The dialogue was recorded a total of six times. Each part of the dialogue was recorded separately. Three separate viewpoints for Derrida and the same for Growtoski. The raw footage was ingested into Final Cut where it was edited. The challenge in the edit was to suggest the pair appear on stage together which was achieved in only one wide split screen shot.

The result was a unique creative response to the dialogue which highlighted the rhythm and humour of the original.
